Boston Marathon
The Boston Marathon 2010 is held on today, April, 19th, 2010. The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by the city of Boston, Massachusetts, on Patriots' Day. Every the third Monday of April! It is luck for me to be able to see such famous marathon race. Begun in 1897 and inspired by the success of the first modern-day marathon competition in the 1896 Summer Olympics, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's best-known road racing events. It is one of five morld marathon majors. The World Marathon Majors comprises five annual races in Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City. The Boston Athletic Association manages this event. Amateur and professional runners from all over the world compete in the Boston Marathon each year.
In my opinion, this marathon racing has various means. For professional marathoner, this racing would be very important and meaningful experience to their honor or development cause the Boston Marathon is one of the world marathon majors! Also, this would be an exciting affair or event for citizens of Boston or people in the world. We can enjoy this race with millions crowds, cheering players who could be friend or family up.
It is very big pleasure to me too, even if there are no players who I know. It seems like a festival of Boston! Without any interest, it is very impressed for people to try to run whole course. Marathone is similar with our life. Isn't this why people challege to stay a course? Stay a course! Even though you are not at the head.

Dear John
I do like reading a book, but, actually, I haven't read any book since I have been at Boston. There are several reasons why I didn't read a book. Best of all, I think I was scared to read Englins books. In Korea, I tried to read some books in English, for example, 'Can you keep my secret?' and 'The twilight', but I could not finish reading them.
One day, I had a good mind to go bookstore in order to find a book to read. So I went to Borders. At the coner of best-seller books, I spent estimated 30 minutes selecting a book, cause I am a stranger to US book market. What leads to my attention was a book named 'Dear John' by Nicholas Sparks. I heard about a movie named 'Dear John' from my friend.
Dear John is a sad love story about a soldier named John Tyree and a girl named Savannah Lynn Curtis. John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. Dear John, the letter read and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true loveand face the hardest decision of his life.
I have a plan to see a movie, if I finish to read this book. It's kind of studying English to me. I am interested to study by doing what I like, reading a book. Good to read!

Mistakes Are Part of the Dues One Pays for a Full Life
Mistakes Are Part of the Dues One Pays for a Full Life
The saying “Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life” (by Sophia Loren) means that mistakes are necessary for people to live the world.
For me, this saying is faithful, based on my study habits that changed my grade.
When I just entered the middle school, I was a very shy student of asking questions to teachers or friends. For that reason, I always overlooked what I could not understand in the classes.
One day, in mathematics class, teacher made me solve a mathematical problem. I was so embarrassed because I did not know how to solve the problem. I strived to solve on my own and evaluated the result. However, the result was not the correct answer. ‘What a shame!’ I wanted to escape in the classroom where there were teacher and friends. Contrary to my anxiety, however, teacher gave me praise. “Guys, give Ayeon a clap!” In addition, teacher instructed me how to solve the problem and what is the correct result. I made a mistake, but I was not scolded.
Instead, I found the way to study. After the day, I was fearless of doing an announcement or questions. I often visited the teacher’s room in order to ask questions, even when I was a high school student. I started to become interested to studying when I swallowed the fear to make mistakes. Soon I realized that mistakes are necessary for me to grow up.

Where is Tokyo Tower?
Where is Tokyo Tower?
On January 29th, 2009, last winter vacation, my sister and I were very abashed at an unfamiliar street.
We were traveling in Tokyo and planned to go to the Tokyo Tower. We checked the way to go there through the book, “Tokyo Recipe.” However, when we arrived at the Gin-ja Station in order to go to the Tokyo Tower, we could not find the route that we had seen in the book. We did not know what to do or where to go. I was so embarrassed. I could speak Japanese a wee bit, but my sister could not speak Japanese at all.
Inevitably, I asked the way to some people who passed by, and then I started to feel more confused. The reason why I was puzzled is that Japanese people seemed not to understand my questions. Subsequently, when we gave up going to the Tokyo Tower and decided to return to hotel, it started to rain. We didn’t bring an umbrella from Korea because we didn’t know the weather information of Tokyo. We were in a flurry and ran to return to the Gin-ja Station. Finally, we didn’t see the sights of the Tokyo Tower. On January 29th, 2009, my sister and I were so embarrassed and a little frightened in a strange city, Tokyo. If I have a chance to go to Japan again, I will go to the Tokyo Tower by all means.

State Pledges $25 Million for Green Computing Center
State Pledges $25 Million for Green Computing Center
By Vicky Waltz, April 12, 2010, BU Today
This article is about the center for a Green High-Performance Computing project. Governor Deval Patrick promised $25 million to help fund construction of a Green High-Performance Computing Center (GHPCC) last month. This center will be located in Holyoke, Massachusetts and costed $100 million.
According to him, the center will start the role this fall. The role is providing an infrastructure for research computing in life sciences, clean energy, and green computing. Also, it will promote innivation in downtown Holyoke.
Last year, Boston University organized a consortium with the Massachusetts Institue of Technology and the University of Massachusetts to cooperate on the development of the center. According to Andrei Ruckenstrein, who is BU vice president and associate provost for research, the GHPCC represents a indivatice partnership amont state government, research universities, and private industry that "provides a vital piece of infrastructure for scientists and researchers, acting both as a hub for an unprecedented level of collaboration in research and development and education among higher education institutions, and as a catalyst for technology-based economic development."
In my opinion, the center could provide plenty of computing power to cope with highly complex issues about climate or health diseases. Therefore, the governor's donation is a significant component of the resources required to build the facility.

My Sister's Keeper
My sister's keeper is the one of my favorite movies. This movie was released on 26, June, 2009, by Nick Cassavetes. There is a original novel 'My Sister's Keeper' written by Jodi Picoult. It tells the story of one girl who is 13-year-old Anna. She sues her parents for medical emancipation when she is expected to donate a kidney to her sister Kate, who is dying from leukemia. Anna was conceived to be a donor who could save Kate's life. Anna is usually willing to donate whatever Kate needs, but a kidney transplant would be a major surgery for not only Kate, but Anna as well and living with one kidney would affect her greatly. Anna eventually petitions for medical emancipation so that she will be able to make her own decision concerning donating a kidney to Kate, who is experiencing renal failure. Sara, her mother, is an ex-lawyer and decides to represent herself and her husband in the lawsuit. She continually attempts to convince Anna to drop the suit, but Anna refuses to do so.
The movie starred Cameron Diaz as Sara and Alec Baldwin as Campbell. Kate and Anna were played respectively by Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin. The film, with an alternate ending and more emphasis on certain subplots while entirely eliminating others, has significant differences from the novel.
I read the book and watched the movie both. There are a little differences between book and film, but both of them are deeply moving, touching, and impressive evenly. I do like any kind of movies and books. Especially, however, I love something about love and which has deep impression, like my sister's keeper.

Across the Country, Fans Gather for iPad
Across the Country, Fans Gather for iPad
The New York Times : By BRAD STONE, April 3, 2010
The iPad released on last Saturday. Apple's most devoted fans assembled on saturday morning at Apple stores around the country. The people wanted to pick up their brand new iPad. The iPad is a tablet computer developed by Apple. It is positioned in a category between a smartphone and a laptop computer. The iPad has a 9.7-inch LED backlit multi-touch display, 16 to 64 GB of flash memory, bluetooth, and a 30-pin dock connector to sync with iTunes and connect wired accessories.
Many of people waiting for the iPad had a imprecise sense that they were involved in yet another big Apple moment, although they could not clearly say how they would use the tablet computer, which shares features of both laptops and mobile phones.
The iPad has been well reviewed, although there are unknown feathures; the ability to run more than one application at a time or lack of support for Adobe's Flash, which means video on many Web sites will not play.
