I want to say my spring break. When I should decide where to go and what to do for this spring break, I was in torment. Because there is no spring break in Korea. Among the considering period, I found the ASB program and decided this program. The program I applied was the Vital Bridge in Chicago. During the spring break, I served the institute, 'Vital Bridge', for four days. The Vital Bridge is the institute for HIV/ADIS patients who need to help absoultely. It provides them necessary things to eat, use, and live.
On the first day, I arranged and cleaned up a warehouse. I arranged many stuff such as cereals, jam, pasta, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. All these things are for the clients. The system of this institue is that the clients ( I mean the patients ) come to this place, write what they need on paper, and volunteers or staff read a paper, find and give. It is great system and really necessary to the patients.
The second day was the most impressive day to me. For all this day, I packed about 30 thousand condoms. I put five condoms and directions how to use into one paper box. This was really tough. Because I have to pack those ceaselessly.
For the two days of rest, I painted a house. The house is temporary place where the patients can stay during a certain period. I have not painted a house before that. Painting is very hard but great experience.
Best of all, during my spring break, I could meet eight friends. They are all native speakers in addition kind and sweet. I could learn a lot of things through this period by helping people and speaking English. It was really nice time.
